Chinese salt and pepper chips have become a popular snack food across the UK.  Cooked chips are tossed together with fried onions, peppers, garlic and chilli before being seasoned with a blend of spices.

Eat them on their own as a delicious savoury snack or serve them as an alternative to rice or noodles to accompany your favourite Chinese dishes

SALT AND CHILLI CHIPS
Serves 2

Pre cooked chips
Salt and chilli Seasoning:
1/2 tablespoon salt
1/2 teaspoon Chinese five spice
1 teaspoon white pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic granules
1/4 teaspoon red chilli powder
Veg
Oil for frying
1/2 onion sliced
1 red chilli sliced
2 cloves of garlic sliced
Half green bell pepper sliced
1 spring onion diced
1 teaspoon red chilli flakes

METHOD:

Mix all of the spices for the seasoning together and set aside.

Cook your chips and keep warm while you fry the vegetables.

Heat a little oil in a wok or large frying pan and stir fry all the vegetables over a medium hot heat for a few minutes until cooked to your liking.

Add the pre-cooked chips and mix everything together.

Add 1 tablespoon or more of the seasoning mix, toss through and serve.
